Performance Review: A Change in Paradigm

February 5, 2018 Posted by Kunal Mehta Decision Making, Integrity, Leadership

Performance reviews have undergone a sea change over the past five years.
As the workplace and the digital space coalesce, the rules have to clearly be changed to stay in touch with the fast-moving Technology.
There is a significant difference between Technology Change and Business Productivity.
Relics of the Industrial age have been discarded in the face of tools that offer clarity and are standardized.
Agile Goal Management, regular check-ins and feedback are the order of the day.

Data shows:

 79% of executives now rate performance management as a high priority
 38% rating the problem as a very important one
 Adopting focussed performance management has resulted in enhancing the capability of Organisations by 10%
 90% companies have redesigned their performance management systems
 96% feel that the processes have been simplified
 83% say that the quality of conversations between employees and Managers have gone.

Focus, Productivity and Execution have improved.
The quest is to further refine the PMS processes and relate these to the over-arching strategic objectives of the organisation.
There is a widening gap between technological change and business productivity owing to human capital strategies – how businesses organize, manage, develop and align people at work.
Reviews are moving away from archaic post-facto analysis to on-going feedback providing processes that enrich employee experience and impact ROI; with plenty of room for course correction.
